John Lee - Partner
John heads up our Real Estate Group. He has held senior regional roles in the real estate business for over 30 years with the past 20 years in Asia where he has lived and worked in Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok. His experience is extensive, covering both execution and oversight of real estate investment, funds management, development, project and asset management and infrastructure.
Prior to joining us to start REG, John was with Lend Lease, Australia’s leading real estate group, where he headed up its Asian real estate Funds management business with responsibility for over $1.2 billion in assets. John has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours 1) from University of New South Wales – Sydney.
Steven J. Bass - Partner
Steve joined Orion Partners in 2010 and oversees the Firm's operations in Tokyo. He has 20 years’ Asian real estate investment and funds management experience, covering multiple asset classes and strategies. Prior to joining the Firm, Steve managed Japan investments and served as an investment committee member for CBRE Global Investors.
Steve studied economics at Gakushuin University on a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, earned a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from UCLA and a BA inEconomics from Vassar College. He is fluent in Japanese.
Victor Kan - Partner
Victor heads up Orion Partners' Real Estate Group's activities in China, including our retail real estate investment fund. He has extensive experience in both real estate and retail in Greater China. Prior to joining us, Victor was the Managing Director, China for Burberry, responsible for 33 stores in 24 cities in China, plus the roll-out of new stores. Prior to Burberry, he had more than 17 years of experience in real estate finance, retail and investment, holding senior positions at Shui On Land, Lane Crawford and Hang Lung Group. He successfully led the IPO for Shui On Land on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2006.
Victor has a MBA from University of Strathclyde and is a CPA.
Dennis M. Smith - Partner
Dennis joined Orion Partners in 2010, oversees the firm's finances and serves as senior advisor to the Infrastructure Debt Group. His career began in Asia as a banker in 1976 with First Chicago (now J.P. Morgan Chase) in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore, where he served as Managing Director of the bank's joint venture merchant bank. Dennis been an active principal in the alternative investment business in Asia since 1984 when he was a co-founder and General Partner of ChinaVest, Greater China's first private equity investment firm. In 2000, Mr. Smith was co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Vsource, one of Asia's first and largest independent providers of business process outsourcing services to Fortune 500 companies for their Asian operations. In 2006, he founded Cross Shore Acquisition Corporation,an acquisition, completed anIPO in April 2007 and acquired ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services, a leading U.S. clinical research organization in 2007. Dennis has BA and MBA degrees from Loyola University of Chicago.
C. Peabody Hutton - Partner & General Counsel
Peabody is a partner and the General Counsel of OP and oversees all legal affairs, including the structuring and documentation of funds and their transactions, legal due diligence, compliance, and documentation of the firm’s internal legal matters, as well as its relationships with shareholders and joint venture partners. He has over 35 years of Asian regional cross border funds, private equity, capital markets and corporate law experience. He was previously the Principal of Hutton & Co., a Hong Kong-based law firm specializing in advising fund management groups and, prior to that, a Partner of the international law firm of Bryan Cave. From 1979 through 1994, he practiced at Coudert Brothers in its New York and Hong Kong offices, primarily in the areas of international banking and investment funds. Peabody received his JD, MBA, MA and BA with Honors from the University of Virginia. He is admitted as an attorney in New York and as a solicitor in Hong Kong.
Paul Lee - Managing Director
Paul is the head of Orion Partners Korea real estate business. He joined the Firm in January 2014 and became a managing director in 2016. Paul has more than 14 years’ experience, including over 10 years in real estate as GE Real Estate’s Korean Head of Risk for Investment and Portfolio Management, and as a manager at Samsung Real Estate in Korea. He has completed more than 60 real estate asset transactions in Korea, covering office, retail and other asset classes. He holds a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture degree from University Of Illinois, Chicago, and a Master of Architecture from Cornell University. Under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Republic of Korea, he is certified as a Real Estate Investment Professional.
Lee-Young Yun - Managing Director
Lee-Young is a senior fund manager of two value-add real estate funds, and a member of the senior executive team within Orion Partners Real Estate Group that oversees the group’s China, Japan and Korea strategies. She also serves as regional head of ESG for Orion Partners’ real estate and infrastructure businesses. Lee-Young has over 15 years of portfolio management, capital raising, acquisitions, and asset management experience in the United States and Asia. Prior to joining Orion Partners, Lee-Young was with JPMorgan Real Estate Acquisition Group in New York, with successful direct real estate acquisitions of an aggregate value of US$2.5 billion. Before JP Morgan New York, she was with Deutsche Bank in Korea. Lee-Young received her BA from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, and her Master's Degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is bi-lingual in English and Korean, conversational in Mandarin, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Konson Lee - Group Chief Financial Officer
Konson, who joined in 2004, is the Firm's Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary. He has more than 20 years' experience in fund investment operations for alternative asset management firms. Previously, he was in charge of the investment accounting operations of PAMA Group and Prudential Asia (USA).
Mr. Lee holds a Postgraduate Diploma of Corporate Administration, Master of Corporate Governance and Master of Professional Accounting from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and received a Chartered Governance Professional qualification of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (“Chartered Secretaries HK & UK”). He is a CPA HK, a fellow of ACCA UK, and an associate member of both Chartered Secretary HK & UK.
Minyong Kim - Senior Director
Minyong is Senior Director at Orion Partners Korea. He joined the firm in July 2015. He has over 10 years working experience in the real estate field. Before joining Orion Partners, he was the Principal in Blackstone Real Estate Korea and prior to that worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Vice President in Korea. He has led large real estate acquisitions, value-add works, restructurings and dispositions, including more than US$1 billion in projects with Shinhan BNPP AM. He holds a Bachelor Degree, with a major in Economics and Business Administration, and graduated summa cum laude from Sogang University in Seoul, Korea. Minyong is a member of Korea Real Estate Forum and a certified Real Estate Investment Professional by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Republic of Korea.
Seong-Min Chun- Senior Director
Seong-Min has over 12 years working experience in Real Estate Field. Before joining Orion Partners, he has worked for Mirae Asset Global Investment Co., Ltd. and GE Capital Real Estate Korea Co. Ltd. Prior to that, Mr. Chun was the Senior Managerin Samjung KPMG FAS Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Urban Planning from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. He is also a Certified Investment Fund Manager from Korea Financial Investment Association.
Ivan Chong - Senior Director
Ivan is the Senior Investment Director of the Orion Partners Real Estate Group and has been actively involved in various stages of acquisition and asset management in the group since 2007. Ivan has over 12 years of M&A, real estate and distressed asset acquisition and management experience in China. Currently, he is directly managing 2 invested real estate projects in Beijing, Dalian and Chongqing, respectively, and developing a new real estate-related businesses for the group. Prior to joining the Firm, Ivan was working in the ORIX Corporation (HK office) as Asset Manager and Strategic Planner in the Managing Director's Office and was responsible for the deal sourcing, acquisition and direct management of distressed asset. Ivan holds a master of law degree (International Corporate and Financial Law) with dissertation topic in China REITs law, from University of Wolverhampton (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in professional accountancy and BBA (Financial Engineering) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Ivan is a chartered Financial Analysis (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analysis(CAIA), Chartered Valuation Surveyor (MRICS) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM). He is also a registered China Corporate Legal Counsel and holds a certified China Economist (Real Estate Economics) and the certificate of China Banking Legal and Compliance. He is proficient in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
Noriko Watanabe - Director
Noriko joined the Firm in 2010 and has 15 years real estate experience in Japan and the USA. She previously worked for CB Richard Ellis Investors, GMAC Commercial Mortgage and PWC Financial Advisory in Tokyo and for Chiyoda Life Realty in New York. She earned a MS in Real Estate Investment from New York University and a BS in International Business from Ferris State University. She is a Licensed Real Estate Broker
Tsuyoshi Yoshiike - Director
Tsuyoshi joined the Firm in 2010 and has 16 years’ real estate experience in Japan. He previously worked for Morimoto Co., Ltd. and MK Capital Management Co., Ltd., where he was in charge of asset management for development projects, including investor and lender relations. Tsuyoshi has a BA Real Estate, Meikai University.
Taichiro Sekiguchi - Director
Taichiro has over 10 years’ real estate experience in Japan, including deal sourcing, underwriting and execution and covering multiple property types. Before joining Orion Partners, he worked for IDERA Capital Management Co. Ltd., Creed Co. Ltd. and Mitsubishi Logistics Co., Ltd in Japan. To date he has successfully managed 15 acquisitions valued at over JPY 40Bn. He received a BA in economics from KEIO University.
Shiro Nishiura - Director
Shiro has over 12 years’ real estate experience in Japan. Previously worked for Hampshire Capital before transferring to OPJ when Hampshire Capital was replaced by OPJ as Japan Advisor for Ostara Japan Fund 1 & 2. Also worked at Shinsei Bank and FinTech Global, where he was a Vice President in the Structured Finance Department. Started his career as an appraiser at one of Japan's major appraisal firms. He receives a BA in Economics from Doshisha University.

Graham Sugden - Director
Graham Sugden is a non-executive independent director of the Fund’s Singapore entities, and also of the Orion Partners Mgmt (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. He is also currently an independent non-executive director of SRE Asia Asset Income Fund, and was a Founding Member and Member of the Management Board & Executive Committee of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA) from year 2005-2012.
He has over 35 years of experience in the real estate investment and funds management industry across Asia Pacific, recently providing independent advisory and director services together with project execution capabilities.
Mr. Sugden was previously the Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of Forterra Trust (May 2012-Oct 2013), Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of AIMS AMP Capital Indistrial REIT (2009-2012), Head of Asian Funds Management of AMP Capital Investors (2007-2012) and he held various senior positions in the Macquarie Group of Companies during years 2000-2007.
Mr. Sugden graduated from University of Cambridge, and is currently a Professional Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Australian Property Institute and Singapore Institute of Directors, and Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Bobo Wong – Director of Fund Finance & Administration Real Estate Group (Korea)
Bobo joined the Firm’s Hong Kong regional office in June 2006. She has over 17-years financial and accounting experience in real estate and private equity. Prior to joining Orion Partners, she was the Finance Officer of General Enterprise Management Services International Limited, a private equity fund management group. Bobo is a CPA (HK), and holds a BA degree in Accountancy from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Ashley Wong – Director of Fund Finance & Administration Real Estate Group (China)
Ashley joined the Firm’s Hong Kong regional office in November 2007. She has more than 16-years experience in accounting and audit. Previously she was an audit manager of Pricewaterhouse Coopers specializing in real estate industry with major job engagements. Ashley is a CPA (US) and holds a Bachelor degree of Business Administration in Finance & Economics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Kitty Lo – Director of Fund Finance & Administration Real Estate Group (Japan)
Kitty joined the Firm’s Hong Kong regional office in December 2008. She has more than 16 years of experience in accounting and auditing. Prior to joining Orion Partners, she was the Finance Manager of MGPA. Prior to MGPA, she was an Audit Assistant Manager in KPMG. Kitty is a CPA (HK) and ACCA (UK) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Degree in Law from the University of London.
Sophia Fong – HR & Office Manager
Sophia Fong is the HR & Office Manager of Orion Partners. She joined the Firm in July 2007. She has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, Office Administration and Management. Before joining Orion Partners, she was with Vim Yield Company and Wing Fung Precious Metals Limited.
She holds a Higher Diploma, major in Human Resources and Administration from HK IVE. She also obtained the Certificate of HK and China Labour Law.
